Paul Rolly’s Definition of Politics

BSA Paul RollyOn June 30, 2016, the BSA Utah National Parks Council opened its doors to another community gathering, a seminar on the Constitution and how to engage in restoring its principles and being a good citizen. Liberty Rising, a non-profit organization established by the LaVoy Finicum family, sponsored the event. He was the patriot rancher that was murdered in an illegal “kill stop” in Oregon earlier this year during a peaceful protest by other patriots, who know the Constitution in the tradition of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The purpose was to bring attention to the unlawful double jeopardy incarceration of the Hammond family, last of the ranchers in southeastern Oregon where uranium is soon to be mined by a Russian-owned company – Uranium One – in bed with the Clinton Foundation.

The FBI is now under criminal investigation for two unaccounted bullets fired before Finicum exited his truck with his hands up. The media chose to cover up the story by not reporting it after initial bias had been established. So, the general public is left with the false narrative that these people were “dangerously armed, domestic terrorists.”

Meanwhile, those following the story, including my radio show The Liberty Lineup on AM 630 in Salt Lake City, 10-Noon MT daily, good men are being denied seven of their 10 constitutional rights while detained in jails for over 8 months now. They are being held without bail and without having been convicted of any crime. This unconstitutional treatment is now allowed under the “Patriot Act.” What irony.

The Finicum family desires to continue in the work of their deceased father, who was known for his peaceful approach to teaching people about the Constitution. His videos demonstrate this and are found on his website – They organized Liberty Rising for this purpose. This event was the launch of their campaign to speak around the United States and to teach people the principles of the Constitution that are either not being followed or have been long lost to lobbyists in Washington DC.

I was the emcee. It was an inspiring evening and frankly, an event for which the Boy Scouts of America would be pleased to have opened its doors.

As always, the BSA did not endorse the content or the group renting the space in the building. The organization has always been a service to the community, opening its doors to political parties for training meetings and candidate forums so that citizens could get to know the candidates better, as well and a variety of issues important to Utahns.

Then on August 3, 2016, at 11:10 AM, the BSA sent an email to a representative of the Finicum family that said:

Because of the content of the subjects your group has presented while using our facilities, BSA can no longer accommodate your meetings in our office.

Our policy is:

“The Boy Scouts of America must not, through its governing body or through any of its officers, chartered councils, Scouters, or members, involve Scouting in political matters.”

All the best in your future endeavors.

Administrative Assistant to John Gailey

Another event organizer, Thomas Butler of the Highland Group, received a similar email letting him know his group was no longer welcome at the facility.

At 11:11 AM, the Salt Lake Tribune’s progressive opinion columnist Paul Rolly posted his article. Hmmm…that was fast. What was the genesis of this communication?

Rolly’s column challenged the BSA’s judgment for inviting the “fringe” – including “doing away with public education, forming militias to fight the tyrannical federal government and, of course stamping out Obamacare.”

Paul Rolly will be on my radio show today along with the others he mentioned in his article. It’s time for a fair and OPEN discussion. Join us.

The BSA, Disney and Gay Scouts

Not only has the Disney Channel embraced homosexuality and gay parenting, the brand has just thrown a bomb at the tattered and war-torn Boy Scouts of America.

Disney announced that it would withdraw support from the BSA in 2015 because of the BSA’s ban on gay boy scout leaders.

Do I say, “I told you so?” Continue reading The BSA, Disney and Gay Scouts

The BSA and Incrementalism

It is the strategy of LBGT activists to incrementally move their policies forward until the ultimate goals have been reached.  What are they?

This Boy Scout vote is merely one small step.  It’s not about whether gay boys can or ought to be included in Boy Scouting.

This is an incremental step whose ultimate goal is to destroy every institution that proclaims moral values and that believes homosexuality is a sin and that reveres marriage between a man and a woman as the fundamental institution in which to nurture and raise children.  It drills down to one core issue:  religious liberty.

Open Letter to the BSA

boy scout oathAn Open Letter to the BSA
From: Cherilyn Eagar, Mother of 4 Scouting Sons, 3 Eagle Scouts

I hope that the Council Representatives that will be voting May 23, 2013 will review these important articles before the vote.

My Legislative Perspective

I have been deeply involved in the moral issues that arise in our state legislature and at our nation’s capitol, as well as internationally at the United Nations. I have a keen awareness of the issues surrounding the campaign for “equality” on a level that the lay person does not have time to investigate.

I can confidently say that this erosion of morality is not going to end with destroying the Boy Scouts as we know it, but that it is out to destroy any and all institutions that promote a standard of morality and decency, namely religion, the family, marriage between a man and a woman, and organizations such as the BSA.

My Unique Perspective – My Personal Experience

I am acquainted with a young man who had an unsettling experience when only 11 years old. I have worked in professional theatre for many years in California, Utah, Dallas and New York City.

As a result, I have some gay friends. I have been on bus and truck national and Broadway tours with them. I respect their talents and abilities, but I have been up close and have observed this culture and lifestyle. I have been in their homes. I know their stories and backgrounds.

Because of my perspective, I am pleading with you and our representatives to vote NO on the resolution before the BSA at the upcoming meeting.

From My Friend and National Expert Judith Reisman, Ph.D
Visiting Professor of Law, Liberty University School of Law

Former California Lieutenant Governor John Harmer, Judith and I have worked together to fight pornography in Utah. Judith is a nationally acclaimed researcher and speaker on the issues of homosexuality, the sexualization of our nation, sex education and pornography.

The information she has compiled is accurate, but she does not “mince words.” It is sometimes difficult to read, but you and your representatives are in a position of authority and influence, and so it is with extreme discretion that I urge you to review this graphic, but essential, information.

Legal Opinions warning against adoption of this proposal

“Boy Scouts Produce Incoherent Policy on Gays”, by Ken Klukowski, Legal Analyst, Author and Law Professor

“The Boy Scouts’ Ill-Considered Proposal to Revise Its Membership Policy on Homosexuals,” by Ed Weland, attorney and a former law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

Please note this confusing information posted on a Seattle health website. It assumes no judgment based on same-gender attraction, although the advice itself sounds benign.

Here’s a video of a lesbian activist
that spoke out against marriage posted on my blog site. It’s a perspective that those of us who work tirelessly at the state legislature have witnessed first-hand.

My first encounter with this perspective was in 1977 at a UN Conference on Women (IWY) in Illinois. I was just a young mom, and I was shocked at what we saw and heard from the lesbians that were the leaders in this march for “gender equality.”

We can be compassionate and help young men turn their lives around, which we have always done. But it would be irresponsible to place other young men intentionally in harm’s way. It also puts any sponsoring organization in harm’s way legally.

It’s Greater Than the BSA

In conclusion, I hope these resources will show you and your colleagues that will vote on May 23rd that this decision is much bigger and more far-reaching than the Boy Scouts of America itself.

Your vote will send a strong message in determining which course we as a nation will pursue – whether to defend marriage and the family and the code of honor of the BSA to be morally straight, or whether to put yet another chink in the armor protecting marriage and the family, the fundamental unit of society and without which this nation – or any nation – will not be able to stand.

I have always loved that Scout Oath and Law and taught them to my sons. Perhaps a reminder is in order:

Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,
Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty,
Brave, Clean, Reverent

We are joining with others across the nation that are praying for you and your colleagues to be all that scouts can be, especially brave.

PS I’m Mormon. I have read reports through the wire services that are stretching the LDS Church’s stance on the proposed BSA policy change. Some imply a tacet endorsement.

If you read the words carefully, the announcement states that the LDS church appreciates the careful consideration of these difficult issues and that it supports things that will help young men build stronger character.

The LDS Church does not give its tacet endorsement of the BSA’s proposed resolution. If it did, the BSA will surely experience a drop in enrollment from LDS troops.

If my boys were still in Scouts, I would not participate if I knew that they would be in the same tent with an openly homosexual boy. When my boys were in scouts, the matter of gay leaders was addressed and a policy instituted that prohibits male adult leaders from being in the same tent with the boys.

It is illogical that the LDS Church would protect the boys in tents from homosexual adult men, but not protect them from outwardly (or privately) homosexual minor boys. Sleeping in the same tent with a homosexual boy is comparable to allowing heterosexual boys in the same tent with girls.

I grew up in the Hollywood Ward, an LDS congregation in the center of the entertainment world. As a teenager, one of my dance partners for a church dance festival was a gay young man who danced on the Andy Williams Show. We treated him as we would anyone else. He did not make an issue of it. It was unspoken. No one questioned his desire to participate. It was not like sleeping in a tent.

The LDS Church has not changed its position on the sin of homosexual behavior. It has not, and will not change its position on the divine nature of marriage between a man and a woman because every child needs a mom and a dad.

Today, the homosexual community does not seek simply to coexist and quietly go about their lives. They actively seek to overthrow the institutions of religion and marriage. They want the legalization of sinful behavior, and when they get that by overturning every little law along the way to overturning traditional marriage laws, they will legally get it in your child’s classroom and in your Boy Scout curriculum to teach your child that sin is not sin and that the First Amendment no longer applies.

That’s where I draw the line in the sand.

Confusing times we’re in. Boy Scouts of America, keep your head up, and your feet well-planted because the winds are going to continue to increase. As a mom, I’m grateful for the principles and moral character you taught my four sons.

Here is the LDS Church statement:

“Over the past several weeks BSA has undertaken the difficult task of reviewing its membership standards policy. In their own words, this undertaking has been ‘the most comprehensive listening exercise in its history.’

“While the Church has not launched any campaign either to effect or prevent a policy change, we have followed the discussion and are satisfied that BSA has made a thoughtful, good-faith effort to address issues that, as they have said, remain ‘among the most complex and challenging issues facing the BSA and society today.’

“The current BSA proposal constructively addresses a number of important issues that have been part of the ongoing dialogue, including consistent standards for all BSA partners, recognition that Scouting exists to serve and benefit youth rather than Scout leaders, a single standard of moral purity for youth in the program, and a renewed emphasis for Scouts to honor their duty to God.

“We are grateful to BSA for their careful consideration of these issues. We appreciate the positive things contained in this current proposal that will help build and strengthen the moral character and leadership skills of youth as we work together in the future.”
